This ship is rockin’ and rollin’
This is our last day/night at sea, and we’re up against hurricane-force winds (70 knots, I believe the captain said). No one is allowed out on the decks. Fortunately, I’ve never suffered from motion sickness, so even though the sea is choppy, I actually have fun walking around. And for once, the shops are not crowded!
Two deaf couples are traveling with us, and the cruise line provided two terrific interpreters for our friends. It’s made the experience much more enjoyable for them, and I love watching the interpreters sign the music and entertainment as well as the announcements. I heard they went to the Vortex Club last night for dancing. It makes me sad they can’t hear the music, but they can feel the vibrations (drums, bass) and one of the interpreters dances with them so they can read the lyrics. Thank you, Royal Caribbean, for this very special service!
We’ve been to Cafe Latte-tudes so much this week we’ve earned a free beverage! That’s where I am now, using one of the Internet stations and watching the rolling waves. Hard to believe this week has flown by and we’ll be back in Vancouver tomorrow. Lots of great vacation memories from our Alaska ‘09 trip. I love cruise vacations!
